Accident occurrence

  • Within the scope of the accident insurance institutions for the industrial and public sectors, a total of 730,573 reportable accidents at work occurred in 2025 which resulted either in death or in incapacity for work for more than three days, that’s a decrease of 3.2 %. The risk of accidents at work per 1,000 full time equivalent employees (FTE) sank by 3.4 % to 16.68.
  • In 2025, 9,715 serious accidents at work were recorded which resulted in payment of a pension or death benefit. The risk of serious accidents at work per 1,000 full time equivalent employees (FTE) thus sank by 2.3 %, from 0.227 in 2024 to 0.222 in 2025. In addition, 328 fatal accidents at work occurred.
  • The 175,142 reportable commuting accidents in the industrial and public sectors constitute an increase compared to the previous year, from 3.10 to 3.14 per 1,000 insurance relationships.
  • The 3,616 new commuting accident pensions represent an increase of 2.4 % in the accident risk per 1,000 insurance relationships, from 0.063 in 2024 to 0.065 in 2025. The number of fatal commuting accidents increased from 215 to 237.
