DGUV and China expand their cooperation

At the beginning of January 2021, the DGUV began implementing an OSH project in China after the project had to be postponed for several months due to the Corona pandemic. The project is funded by the Commission of the European Union. With travel restrictions still in place, comprehensive research work will be conducted first. The project aims to develop procedures for collecting and evaluating data on occupational accidents and work-related health hazards in China and to apply them in a pilot phase. The project is intended to lay the foundation for evidence-based policymaking in the EU and China aiming to secure and improve labour protection standards and to avoid social dumping to the detriment of European entrepreneurs. The agreement reached between the EU Commission and the Chinese government at the end of December 2020 on key points of an investment agreement, in which labour and social standards are explicitly mentioned, has made the project even more important. The project duration is 33 months with a volume of 2.2 million euros.
